New Wilmington - Linda Gilliland Boyd of Riethmiller Road, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her residence on the morning of Feb. 25, 2026, after a period of declining health. Linda was 86 years old.

She was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1940, in Wilmington Township, Mercer County, to the late Charles J. and Delilah Evelyn Snyder Ward Gilliland.

She was a lifelong resident of the New Wilmington area and a graduate of the Wilmington High School, Class of 1958.

She married her high school sweetheart, Wendell H. Boyd, in May 1962, and together they shared almost 64 years of marriage. They had two children, a daughter, Corinne B. (Gary) Combine of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and a son, Colin M. Boyd of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

Linda was formerly employed by Colonial Williamsburg, Westminster College and the New Wilmington Borough office.

Along with raising her family and working, she was very active in the community as a former member of the New Wilmington Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary, New Wilmington Community Club, Castle Clowns and a member of Harmony Friends, a women's barbershop singing group. She was also active in her children's activities.

Five grandchildren that she loved dearly are Henry and Lucy Combine, and Morgan, Elizabeth and Mary Boyd.

Linda is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Charles D.(Cheryl) Gilliland of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jeffrey E. (Kimberly) Gilliland of New Wilmington, Pennsylania, as well as one sister, Sally Moreno of New Mexico, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Nier and Mabel McGinnis Fischer.

The family would like to acknowledge Linda's wonderful caregiver, Ian Kennell, as well as the women from Golden Caregivers.
