Pittsburgh, PA - Louise Jane "Tunnie" Currie Burr, of Zelienople, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026.

She was born Dec. 5, 1941, to the late Harold and Ruth Currie of Shenango Township. Tunnie was a surprise addition to her family of six siblings (two of her brothers were already in college) and was dearly loved and doted upon by her whole family. Her uncle dubbed her "the lonely little petunia in the onion patch," which stuck as her lifelong nickname of "Tunnie."

She was married to the late Jerry Burr for 58 years before his passing in 2017. He was her sister and brother-in-law's milk supplier that her sister decided to set her up with. They dated to "Youth for Christ" meetings, and their marriage was founded upon a mutual faith in God.

Despite losing sight in one eye due to a childhood accident, she never complained and lived her life to serve others.

Louise was known for her cooking and baking, with many trays of cookies gifted to others at Christmas, countless church dinners and hospitality at home provided to grateful guests.

She taught the 2-to-3-year-old Sunday school Class at Grace Church of Harmony for 50 years. A lover of small children and babies, the thing that still made her smile near the end of her life was getting to see and hold her first three great-grandchildren.

Louise supported the work on the family dairy farm and later the professional limousine service the couple owned, and the many ministries taken on by her late husband, despite her desire to be in the background. She loved the hard work of gardening, canning many foods, milking cows and helping the elderly, and rarely said she was tired.

She was a wonderful mother to her daughters, constantly willing to help and guide them and shared that love and support with their husbands and children. Truly Proverbs 31:10-31 reflects her life.

Louise served the community as well through the Meals on Wheels program and the Salvation Army.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Cindy (Ronald) Speck and Sandi (Peter) Everett; her grandchildren, Jordan (Anna) Everett, Spencer (Sarah) Everett, Josiah (Cindy) Everett, Micah Everett, Samuel Speck and Wesley (Taylor) Speck; her great-grandchildren, Asher, Matthias and Isla Everett; numerous nieces and nephew; and countless friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jerry, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard (Jane), Norman (Sharyl) and Billy Currie; and sisters, Bette (Glenn) Deemer, June (John) Servick, Winifred (Donald) Boots and Geraldine (Donald) Garing.

Our deepest gratitude goes to special friends Leslie Auld and Marilyn Weyman, whose help during the past year was invaluable, and to her compassionate caregivers at Arden Courts at North Hills Memory Care for the past six months.

Friends and family will be welcomed from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.

A funeral service to celebrate Louise's life will follow at 7 p.m. at Grace Church of Harmony, 538 Main St., Harmony, PA 16037.
