Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - M. LaVerne Alex, 82, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on Dec. 13, 2019, at Epworth Villa in Oklahoma City.

Born on Nov. 29, 1937, in New Castle, she was married to her beloved husband, the love of her life, Robert Alex for 54 years. He preceded her in death in November 2011.

LaVerne was a graduate of New Castle High School.

She was a beautiful homemaker, turning her home into a magical wonderland during her favorite holiday, Christmas.

LaVerne was an avid swimmer and was a swimming instructor at the New Castle YMCA in the 1960s. She also taught at Cascade Park during those years. LaVerne was one of the first instructors, in the area, to introduce babies to the water.

What gave LaVerne the most joy in life was spending time with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Bradford (Stella) Alex of Porter Ranch, California, Gregory (Vilma) Alex of Kearney, Missouri, and Scott (Michelle) Alex of Moore, Oklahoma; a daughter, Kristin (Dr. Mark) Davies of Edmond, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A service will take place at noon Friday, immediately following visitation.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
