Margaret J. Butera, 103, of West Pittsburg passed away the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at the Avalon Place.

Born in Leesburg, Pennsylvania, on July 8, 1915, Margaret was a daughter of the late Clarence E. Sr. and Margaret Ward Woods.

Margaret was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph Butera Sr. in October 1985.

Margaret was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

She enjoyed baking and being surrounded by her family. Margaret was known for her devotion to prayer and praying for her family.

She is survived by her children, Ronald Butera of New Castle, JoAnn Marquez and her husband, John, of Carson City, Nevada, Linda Hill and her husband, Vincent, of Oregon, and Susan Scharf of Ellwood City; her daughters-in-law, Judy Butera of Wampum, Jean Nevotne of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Anna Butera of New Castle; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her sons, Samuel A. Butera, James Butera Sr., and Joseph Butera; daughter, Nancy Lee Butera; infant twins, Mary and Joseph Butera; son-in-law, Wayne Scharf; sisters, Mabel Pondillo, Eva Jean Sansone, Martha Hookway and Betty Guiducci; and her brothers, James Woods, Arthur Woods Sr., Clarence Woods Jr., and Harold Woods Sr.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade.

Burial will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
