New Castle, PA - Margaret A. Dattilo, 83, of New Castle, passed away Feb. 20, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born May 23, 1942, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Albert and Anita Roussos Russo.

She married Frank R. Dattilo on Aug. 14, 1965.

She was a 1960 graduate of New Castle High School and of Slippery Rock University, class of 1965.

Marge's entire teaching career centered around helping children. She was a pioneer in her field of early education, developing screening programs for at-risk children. Ultimately, she received the Annie Sullivan Award for facilitating the acceptance of handicapped students in schools. Her work impacted thousands of children and their families, and is still being felt today.

Her most cherished role was that of grandmother ("Mema"). Her devotion to her family was seen through her generosity of time, and sharing her love of baking, nature and sewing.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, family recipes and traditions that transcend time and generations to come.

She is survived by Frank, her husband of 60 years; two daughters, Noele Reynolds and husband, Randy, of Harmony, Pennsylvania, and Kara Dattilo of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Jack, Gabriella, Ava and Davis; a brother, Rick (Tracy) Russo, of Harrisburg, North Carolina; and many extended family members.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, for Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Father Ben Vaghetto. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

A heartfelt thank-you to all of the caregivers for their compassion, dedication and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Lawrence County Community Action Parternship (the Early Head Start program).
