Marilyn Jane Heckathorn of Orchard Terrace Drive, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was 93 years old.
Marilyn was born April 6, 1932, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late David Earle Matheson and Anna Dorothy Platel Matheson.
She married Ronald E. Heckathorn on June 15, 1957, and he preceded her in death June 10, 2016.
Marilyn was employed at Mahoning Finance Co. as a bookkeeper for 21 years. She was also self-employed auditor for the Internal Credit Unions for 45 years.
Marilyn and her husband were very supportive of their only daughter, Susan Jean Heckathorn. Susan lives in Harrisville at Transitions Healthcare Autumn Grove. Their love and support for Susan was outstanding.
There will be a service at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2025, at The Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Avenue, New Wilmington. Visitation will be from noon until the service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rebecca Rosengarth presiding. Interment will follow Monday at Fair Oaks Cemetery in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.
Memorials may be given to the New Wilmington United Methodist Church.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
