Mary Blanche Kind
Mary Blanche Kind, 85, of Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County went home to be with the Lord from her residence on March 23, 2020.
Blanche was born on Nov. 9, 1936, in Zelienople to Cyril Frank and Roma Blanche Rubright Pflugh.
Blanche graduated from Zelienople High School in 1955, and attended Anderson College, located in the state of Indiana.
Blanche spent a lifetime farming side by side with her husband of 61 years, Richard John Kind, whom she married on Dec. 22, 1956, and who preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2017.
One of her favorite jobs was mowing hay for the family farm and she loved being outside tending to her plants and flowers.
Over the years, she taught piano lessons to 106 students and enjoyed playing the piano and organ for various churches for 65 years.
Blanche made numerous wedding cakes over the decades as well.
Blanche is survived by her sister, Nora Lee Kerry of Nobelstown, Indiana; her three children, Dwight Kind (Terri) of Slippery Rock, Kay Caravaggio (Harry) of Sewickley and Dean Kind (Bonnie) of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Layne Kind, Logan Kind (Stephanie) and Spencer Caravaggio; and three great-grandchildren, Braidin, Chase and Hayden Kind.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Richard John; parents, Cyril and Roma Pflugh of Zelienople; and brothers, LaVern Pflugh of Zelienople and infant brother, Reese Pflugh.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
It is Blanche's wish that people take the time to write a letter, make a visit or do a deed left undone.
In lieu of flowers, Blanche asks that friends and family make a donation to their favorite charity.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Blanche was a dear close sister in Christ to us since we were very young. We were always welcomed at her home with open arms . Don and Dick were just like brothers and worked together with Blanche in their home and farm buildings for 50 yrs. We loved her and respected her so much!

Blanche was a wonderful and beautiful person inside and out. She was always there to give a helping hand to everyone she knew. I had the pleasure of meeting Blanche and Dick when I started working for Penn State Extension over 30 plus years ago. They took me into to their family and taught me many things about Agricultural, gave me good advice and they were truly important to me in my life and career. Rest in Peace my dear Blanche. I will always love you and Dick for how kind you were to me for so many years. You will be missed.
