New Castle, PA - Maureen Anne Rooney, 65, of New Castle, passed away with her children and sister at her side early Monday morning, Jan, 26, 2026, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Maureen was born Dec. 6, 1960, in New Castle, a daughter of John and Rebecca (Fazzone) Rooney.

She graduated from New Castle High School in 1979.

For many years, Maureen worked as a clerk at the U.S. Post Office, retiring from the Warrendale Post Office in 2023.

Always up for any adventure, she enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises or trips to the beach, taking road trips to catch a play or musical, and hosting large family gatherings at her home.

The greatest joy of Maureen's life was being a grandma to her eight grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She never missed an opportunity to support them at any sporting event, activity or celebration.

Maureen is survived by five children, BJ Stuble of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Brienne McCormick (John) of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, Brandon Stuble (Jocelyn) of New Galilee, Pennsylvania, Vincent Menichino (Summer) of Henderson, Nevada, and Giovanni Menichino (Laura) of New Castle; a sister, Colleen Higbee, of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Raegan, Rowan, Ren, Willow, Giovanni Jr., Noemi, Serafina and one on the way; a great-granddaughter, Sienna; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Nero.

In addition to her parents, Maureen was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Rooney; a sister, Erin Rooney; and a granddaughter, Gemma Menichino.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be a private memorial held by the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
