New Castle - Nick Adams Jr., 93, of New Castle passed away the morning of Dec. 28, 2023, at his residence.

Nick was born July 31, 1930, in New Castle. He was the son of the late Nick and Pauline (Cucia) Adams Sr.

Nick married the late Jenelyn Maxine Adams on Sept. 29, 1952. They were married for 59 years and seven months. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2012.

Following graduation from the Terrace School for Craftsman, Nick enlisted in the United States Army on Feb. 26, 1952, in Pittsburgh. Mr. Adams was a member of the 278th Infantry Division at Camp Drum, New York. Nick earned the rank of corporal in October 1953. Mr. Adams received many decorations and citations, among them were the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Adams was honorably discharged Feb. 25, 1954, at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. He later spent six years in the reserves.

When Nick came home from the Army, he used all the money he'd saved up to build his home with his wife.

Nick was a proud 32nd Degree Mason with the Lodge of the Craft and attended the School of Instructions.

After he was officially discharged from the military, he was a member of the carpenters union for 50 years and was a journeyman carpenter. He worked as a foreman for 12 years with Measel Construction.

In his early years, Nick played the guitar and was in a band. He enjoyed football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He prided himself in cabinetry making, carpentry, blueprint reading and math.

Mr. Adams is survived by his two daughters, Tracie R. (Ray) Trejchel of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Michele N. (Larry) Black of New Castle; three grandchildren, David, Wendy, and Nicholas Black, all of New Castle: three great-grandchildren, Tyson Black, Maci and Ellie Black; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two loving cats, Jasmine and Tiger.

In addition to his parents and wife, Maxine, Nick was preceded in death by two brothers, James Cucia and John Adams; a sister, Eugenia Ursu; and a grandson, Ryan Trejchel.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his neighbor and caregiver, Anita O'Neill.
