Norberta R. Modliszewski Obituary

Norberta Rosalia Modliszewski entered the heavenly kingdom on Thursday Dec. 26, 2024, following a brief illness.

Born June 11, 1940, in Ellwood City Hospital, she was the daughter of John and Mary Walukiewicz Modliszewski.

Norberta, the last of her family, was preceded in death by two brothers, John Frances, who died in infancy (1932), and James Frederick in 2007.

She was a member of the graduating class of 1958 from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.

Norberta received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mt. Mercy College (Carlow University) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylania, in 1962, and her Master of Science Degree from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1966.

In 1974, she studied the British System of Education at Oxford University in England.

Norberta taught elementary education in the Cleveland Public Schools for 30 years.

She was a member of Divine Grace Parish in Ellwood City and enjoyed attending daily Mass and services.

She enjoyed being a member of Challenges Senior Center in Ellwood City and Knotted with Love, a crochet and knitting group.

Norberta loved spending time with family and friends and especially celebrating holidays, birthdays and summer picnics with her cousins, John and Rita Lamb and James and Halina Bartholemew and their families.

She is survived by dear first cousins Rita (J.V.) Lamb and Halina (James) Bartholemew, Rose (John) Crump, Paul (Janet) Kwiat, Francis (Gloria) Modliszewski, Louis (Darlene) Modliszewski and Robert (Helen) Wiech and her beloved Melinda (Ed) Marks.

The calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at Marshall Funeral Home, Main Street, Wampum, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, by Father Joseph Freedy at Divine Grace Parish - Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City. The interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
