Paul David (Pado) Abraham, 89, of Wayne Township, passed away at his residence Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024.

Born in Ellwood City on Dec. 5, 1935, Paul was the son of the late Robert C. and Anna M. Patterson Abraham. Paul is survived by his children, Julie (Guy) Filewich, of Elizabeth Township, and Robert (Tammy) Abraham, of Ellwood City; three grandchildren, Cameron Filewich, Robert (Angelica) Shaffer ,of New Castle, and DeAnna (Michael) Cancilla, of Pittsburgh; two great-grandchildren, Rayna and Illyana Shaffer; a sister, Gail Cowan, of Pittsfield, Pa., and a sister-in-law, Luitgard Plymire, of Cincinnati.

Paul graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 and shortly after graduation joined the Army. Serving in Schweinfurt, Germany, Paul met his wife Ingrid while having dinner at a local restaurant owned by Ingrid's family. The two married June 5, 1957, in Bergrheinfeld, Germany. Upon returning to the United States at the end of his service, Paul took industrial engineering courses at Geneva College and later transferred to Westminster College, where he changed his major to banking. He retired from Huntington Bank, formerly First National Bank, in 1990. Following his retirement, Paul worked as the Director of the Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce. During their marriage, Paul and Ingrid were enthusiastic travelers and had been to more than 28 countries.

Throughout his life, Paul was an active member of the community and belonged to many social clubs. The extensive list includes the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Club, the Saxon Club, the New Castle Elks Lodge, the Ellwood City Lions Club, Veteran's Honor Guard and the VFW. He was also a member of the Ellwood Masonic Lodge #72 and New Castle Shrine Consistory. Paul also served as a volunteer fire fighter for Wayne Township and was a member of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church. For the past 20 years, he and Ingrid spent their winters in Holiday, Fla., where they were also members of the VFW and AMVETS. Paul was a loving husband and father. His hobbies included hunting and fishing trips locally and in Canada, raising farm animals and tending his garden.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Ingrid, and sister, Rosemary A. Cohee.

A Celebration of Paul's life will be held at the Ellwood City Moose Lodge #93, 1400 Factory Ave., Ellwood City, on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Paul's name to Lutheran Senior Life VNA Western Pennsylvania.
