Paul Elton Anderson, 82 years old

God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around and whispered "Come to me," Tearful eyes watched you as your golden heart stopped beating and we saw you pass away.

Paul passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018, at 11 p.m. at the Haven Convalescent Home.

Born Nov. 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Keith and Katherine (Lean) Anderson.

Surviving at home, the home they built together, is his wife of 51 years, the former Edna Mae Book, whom he married on April 7, 1967.

Together, they had the joy of raising their two children one son, Douglas Alan (Courtney Anne) Anderson, and one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Caggiano, all of New Castle, Pa.; four grandchildren, Gavin Matthew Caggiano, Dakota James Anderson, Sienna Rose Anderson and Jacob Alex Conner, all of New Castle; and a sister; Joan (Dick) Conti of Texas.

Paul "Andy" retired after 35 years of service with Columbia Gas Co.

Paul enjoyed hunting, being in the woods, woodworking and building things. In addition to the home they shared together, they also built a camp in Tionesta, Pa., and one in Woodsfield Ohio. Paul enjoyed making clocks for his two children, toy cars and trucks for his three grandsons, and a doll cradle for his granddaughter.

He was of the Christian faith.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow immediately at 6 p.m.

Burial will be at Castle View Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care given to Paul by Dr. Tejpar, Dr. Abul-Ela, and the loving care and support he received from Mark Tanner and staff. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
