Raymond Kerr Thompson, 63, of Ellwood City, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Ellwood City Hospital.

He was born in New Castle on May 6, 1953, to Edward Willis Thompson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth McConahy Thompson.

He married Patti Jo Hebert on July 19, 1980.

He graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1973 and New Castle Business College in 1979, where he received his degree in business administration.

Ray mostly worked in the field of security and retired from Traco in 2014, where he worked as a saw cutter. He most recently worked security in Pittsburgh on various feature movie and television production sets.

Survivors include his wife, Patti Jo, at home in Ellwood City; two sisters, Robin (Preston) Hutchins of Glasgow, Pennsylvania, and Jodi (Bob) Buchholz of Panama City, Florida; a brother, Kenneth Andrew (Elaine) Thompson of New Castle; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carolyn Jean Thompson and Lori Ann Thompson; and a brother, Edward W. Thompson.

Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Preston Hutchins, Raymond's brother-in-law.
