Richard L. Atwell, 89, of Grove City, passed away at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022.

He was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Venango County and grew up in Kennerdell, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Darryl Atwell and Martha Genevieve Hoffman Atwell.

He was a self-employed mechanic and beekeeper.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and flowers. He was a wonderful father and loved spending time with his children.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include four daughters, Susan L. Reppart of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, Laura A. Atwell of Grove City, Priscilla R. Girasole of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, and Joyce A. (Michael) McGowan of Slippery Rock; son, Richard E. (Bobbi) Atwell of Slippery Rock; three sisters, Dorothy Mackell of Grove City, Shirley Royle of Grove City and Nancy Bowie of Ashtabula, Ohio; two brothers, Walter L. (Donna) Atwell of Grove City and Neil Atwell of Kennerdell; and four grandchildren, Stephanie Reppart, Alexis Atwell, Samantha Girasole and Courtney Girasole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darryl Atwell and Martha Genevieve Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock. Interment will follow at Mt. Irwin Cemetery, Venango County.
