Richard Steiner Sickle Obituary

Richard Steiner Sickle, 71, of Portersville, Pennsylvania, passed April 18, 2024, surrounded by family at Butler Hospital after a brief illness.

An extremely artistically talented man, he was also a great cook and wonderful with beautiful plants and flowers.

He enjoyed rides with his dog, family gatherings and dinners, time with his friends, playing cards and sharing a great story.

He loved his coworkers at Fairground Market and lasting friendships from his other jobs over the years. Each one provided many treasured memories.

Rick was a 1970 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and graduated in 1974 from Edinboro University, where he studied art. He formed lifetime friendships with many classmates and always enjoyed those reunions with friends.

He was a very kindhearted and fun-loving man that filled the room with laughter and joking, always enjoying life to the fullest.

Rick was born Oct. 1, 1952, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.

He was a wonderful son of Richard Eugene and Gladys Marie (Bauder) Sickle. He was brother to Dan and Patti (Mohan) Sickle, and Stacy (Sickle) and Travis Croll.

He loved his nieces and nephew, and was a fantastic uncle to Trisha Sickle, Danielle (Sickle) and Grant Gabal, Jeff and Haley (Urben) Croll and Steph Croll. He also had the joy of being a great-uncle to Noah, Josephine and Trent.

His family and many great friends were the treasures of his life, and Rick was an unforgettable blessing to all of those that he encountered.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock, for fellowship from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024.Private burial will follow on the morning of Tuesday, April 23, at Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
