Rita M. George
Rita M. George, 83, of New Castle passed away the morning of Oct. 17, 2019, at her residence.
Born on Oct. 11, 1936, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late James (Gebo) and Mary Bashara Gabriel.
On Nov. 27, 1958, she married her beloved husband, Robert J. George and he survives at home.
Rita had worked for Shop & Save and also for Giant Eagle grocery stores.
She was an active and devoted member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church, and was a member the Altar Rosary Society.
Rita was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, and was known for taking care of all her family.
In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by her son, Anthony R. George and his wife, Jody, of New Castle; brothers, Anthony J. (Gebo) Gabriel and his wife, Alexis, and George J. Gabriel; sisters, Theresa Alexander and her husband, Ronald, and Debra DeBlasio and her husband, Richard, all of New Castle; granddaughter, Jenna Marie; sister-in-law and brother-in law, Theresa and Pete Mike of Rochester, Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Gabriel; and two nephews, Anthony Gabriel and Ronald Alexander.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Service of Incense will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday for a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. The Rev. Antoine Kairouz will officiate.
Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
