Robert James "Jim" Abbott, 73, of Beaver Dam Road, New Galilee, New Beaver Borough, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Heritage Valley, Beaver Hospital. Born Aug. 10, 1941, in Kansas City, Kan., he was a son of the late James D. and Fern Scott Abbott. He was married for 42 years to Sandra Ketterer Abbott, who survives. He was married for 42 years to Sandra Ketterer Abbott, who survives. Jim worked as a salesman for Phil Fitts Ford in New Castle and later for Prudential Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1982. He served in the Army from 1958 through 1961, stationed at various missile sites. He was a past member of the American Legion in Wampum, the LMBA and the VFW in New Galilee. Jim enjoyed genealogical research and his dogs. Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra, and a half sister, Debra Abbott of Virginia Beach, Va. Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St., Wampum. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. C.F. Hoffman of the Galilean Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in White Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at marshallsfh.com.
