Robert W. Allen, 90, of Wampum passed away Monday, April 8, 2019, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.

Born April 14, 1928, in Isle, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Robert O.and Irma M. (Cress) Allen.

Bob graduated from Wampum High School.

In 1947, Bob began installing wallpaper and continued for the next 50 years. He also worked and retired from Babcock and Wilcox with 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Wampum Presbyterian Church, the Free and Accepted Masons and the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh.

He served in the Army as a cryptographer stationed in Japan during the Korean War.

Survivors include a niece, Deanna (the Rev. Mike) Wimer; three great-nieces, Sonya Matus (Jim) Mangino, Sherry Matus (Kevin) Genareo and Morgan Wimer; a great-nephew, Brent (Jackie) Matus, all of Wampum; three great-great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; a great-great-great-niece; and two great-great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine E. Gorst.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Marshall Funeral Home, Main Street, Wampum.

A funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Wimer of the Chewton First Baptist Church officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Final interment will take place in Clinton Cemetery.
