Robert James Altman, 53, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, 2020, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born in New Castle on June 8, 1967, he was a son of the late Richard and Hannah White Altman.

After graduating from Lawrence County Vo-Tech, he attended Pensacola Junior College.

Robert was employed by General Motors, where he improved his skills in auto detailing and painting.

He was known to his friends and family as the person who could fix many things.

In his leisure time, Robert enjoyed the watching football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, detailing cars and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters, Ronald Altman, Marion Madison and Regina Jackson.

Robert will be sadly missed by two sons, Robert Jr. and Jonathon Altman, both of Eatonville, Florida; two brothers, Richard (Lori) Altman Jr. and Randy (Tiffany) Altman; five sisters, Paulette (Karl) Booker, Patricia Austin and Barbara (Joseph) Brown, all of New Castle, Renee Sims of Pensacola, Florida, and Mildred Altman of Texas; an uncle, Jimmy White of Pensacola, Florida; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Due to the public health concerns caused by COVID-19, all visitors are required to wear a mask and to practice safe distancing. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Charlotte A Sheffield Funeral Home, 454 Chestnut St., New Castle.

The service to celebrate Robert's Homegoing will begin at noon.
