Marine Veteran Robert "Bob" Anastasia passed peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at the age of 87, from natural causes.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1932, in Blue Island, Illinois, to Marie Bordenaro and Albert Anastasia Sr.
After graduating in 1949 from New Castle High School, Bob obtained degrees in english and history from Slippery Rock University.
He also enlisted in the Marine Corps, reaching the rank of major.
Bob later taught english and history at New Castle High School, then moving to California in 1959, establishing a long-term career in the book publishing business. He was a passionate reader, an advocate for education and an avid golfer.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Albert Sr. and Marie Anastasia.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Anastasia of California; two brothers, Albert Anastasia Jr. of New Castle and Francis Anastasia of Florida; his three sons, David, Paul and Joe Anastasia of California; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Bob was laid to rest at 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2019, at the Riverside National Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, California.
