New Castle, Pennsylvania - Robert "Bob" Carl Anderson, 85, of New Castle passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones the afternoon of July 9, 2022.

Born on Sept. 3, 1936, in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stewart and Margaret (Lewar-chick) Anderson.

On Oct. 31, 1959, he married his grade school sweetheart and beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley (Ahlas) Anderson. She survives at home.

Bob was a graduate of Northern Cambria High School, Barnesboro Unit.

He went on to faithfully serve his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Bob went on to be an assembly line worker for General Motors, retiring after 28 years.

He enjoyed collecting antique tractors, cars, tending to his large garden and enjoyed sitting on his porch looking out over his property.

Bob was a proud member of the Masons, Mahoning New Castle 243, Pittsburgh Shriners and Local Union GM 112.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Family was of the utmost importance to Bob. He loved the time he spent with them, especially teaching his grandchildren his 'green thumb.'

Bob especially enjoyed the time he spent with his only great-granddaughter.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Bob's caregiver, Tina, for all her love, care and support and Sharon Regional Hospice. Their dedication will not be forgotten.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by daughter, Debra Jean (Roger) Mastrangelo of New Castle; brother, Philip E. Anderson of Northern Cambria, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Jade Amber (Jonathon) McElwain of Ellwood City and Nicholas Robert Mastrangelo (fiancée, Sydney Cuscino) of Edinburg; one great-granddaughter, Clara Jean Mastrangelo; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Deborah Anderson.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Father Nick Mastrangelo officiating.

Entombment will be at Parkside Cemetery.
