Robert A Davis (Bob) Obituary
New Castle, PA - Robert Adison Davis, 74, of New Castle, passed away peacefully June 26, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with lymphoma.
Bob spent his final hours surrounded by those he loved most in the world, and took his final rest only after having the chance to say goodbye to each of them.
Born June 28, 1951, in New Castle, Bob was the third of four children of the late Adison and Donna (Smith) Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ron; and his sisters, Marna Jo Boyd and Pam Samaras.
On Aug. 8, 1970, Bob married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Patricia, and together they built a life centered around family. Bob and Pat raised their four children in a house they built by hand, teaching them the values of kindness, hard work and being present for one another.
Bob's handyman skills were on constant display, and he never failed to answer when his kids needed something fixed. Until the end, his message to his children was simple - "take care of each other."
While Bob certainly loved being a son, brother, husband, father and friend, his favorite role was being "Pap" to nine grandchildren, each of whom adored him. Whether it was golfing, learning to fish at his side or joining him for an early morning breakfast at McDonald's, the kids treasured every moment with Bob. He was a constant presence at sporting events, plays, singing showcases and dance recitals - often wearing his trademark yellow "Allegheny College" hat and cheering as loudly as anyone in the crowd. His pride and love for his grandchildren knew no bounds, and he implored them always to "do your best and have fun." They will forever see him in the crowd.
Bob was a lover of cars, and spent over 20 years as the owner and operator of Penn Auto Store in Shenango Township. Bob spent an additional 20 years working for Jacobs, Inc. before retiring in 2015.
He made a significant impact to his community as a member of the Shenango Area School Board for 22 years, including seven years as president of the board, and enjoyed engaging in local politics in his spare time.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pat; and his four children, Jami (Marc) Genareo of Lakewood, New York, Mark (Krista) Davis of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Kelly (Ryan) Christy of Wexford, Pennsylvania, and Craig (Elizabeth) Davis of Ambler, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Devon, Sofia, Nate, Juliet, Josie, Lucas, Andrew, Charlotte and CJ; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Bob lived a life of commitment, loyalty and hard work, and he instilled those values into his children and grandchildren. Those lessons will live on in each of them, and will be passed on to future generations to ensure that Bob's legacy survives his time with us.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill St. Family and friends are invited to join a brief memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, immediately following the visitation hours. Interment will be in Ss. Philip & James Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please heed Bob's request to "take care of each other" and consider making a donation to either the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation in his memory.
