New Bedford, PA - Ronald J. Iwanejko, 82, of New Bedford, Pennsylvania, passed away the morning of April 15, 2025, at his residence with his family.
Ronald was born July 19, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of the late John T. and Frances (Limberger) Iwanejko.
He was married to the former Patricia A. Wallace. They were married for 57 years. She survives at home.
Ronald was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. James site.
Mr. Iwanejko enlisted in the United States Navy on Aug. 20, 1962, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Practical Damage Control Procedures on the USS Richard E. Byrd (DDG-23) in Norfolk, Virginia, and earned the rank of SFM3 on June 25, 1964. Mr. Iwanejko earned the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged Sept. 9, 1966, at Naval Reserve Center Bainbridge, Maryland.
Following his discharge, Ronald worked as owner and operator, alongside his wife, of Liberty Sweeper Company for 53 years before retiring.
Mr. Iwanejko was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting and trout fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, Ron is survived by three his children, Ronald J. (Cari) Iwanejko of New Bedford, Pennsylvania, Tony J. (Tammy) Iwanejko and Tammy L. McKean, both of Pulaski, Pennsylvania; brother, Jerry (Patty) Iwanejko of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Sandy Tomko of Aurora, Ohio, Annette Zets of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, and Paulette (Albert) Muscarella of Pulaski, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Abigail (Zane) Slick, Katelyn (fiancé, Michael Koroly) McKean, Connor McKean and Makayla Iwanejko; and two great-grandchildren, Sienna Koroly and Clinton Slick.
Ronald was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katie Iwanejko.
Private services for immediate family will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military honors for Ronald in the funeral home.
A blessing service will be conducted immediately following military honors in the funeral home. Rev. John Gizler, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Committal and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
