New Castle, PA - Ronald E. Totin, 83, of New Castle passed away the morning of April 17, 2025, at Butler VA Medical Center.

Born July 28, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Stephen and Mary (Sosak) Totin.

He was preceded in death on April 15, 2015, by his wife of 23 years, Lisanna R. (Hancox) Totin, whom he married Aug. 13, 1990.

After his graduation in 1960 from Montour High School, Ronald served his country for more than 20 years in the U.S. Army, also serving in the Vietnam War and retiring as a staff sergeant.

He then returned home and gained employment with Westinghouse as an operator.

Ron was as troop master with the Boy Scouts for his sons' troop. He enjoyed being outdoors boating with his family, fishing and hunting. Among his other interests were gardening, home improvement and he was an avid classic car enthusiast.

He was a member of the former St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and of the VFW.

He is survived by three sons, Steven Totin of Wakefield, Rhode Island, Nicholas Totin of Washington, D.C., and Joseph (Monica) Totin of Little Rock, Arkansas; a niece, Jessica Olson of Aberdeen, Maryland; and one grandson, Beau Totin.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Totin, in 2012.

Visitation will be6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home, with Rev. Richard Nero officiating.

Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
