Rose M. Marcantino
Rose Marie Marcantino, 98, formerly of West Pittsburg, passed away the evening of Jan. 13, 2020, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Rose was born on Jan. 7, 1922, in New Castle. She was a daughter of the late Andrew and Caroline Sacco.
On April 30, 1946, Rose married her beloved husband, James "Chaz" Marcantino. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2010.
Rose graduated from New Castle High School in 1940. She attended St. Francis School of Nursing and graduated in 1943.
Rose worked at St. Francis Hospital in the medical surgical unit as a registered nurse for 25 years. She retired as head nurse in 1986.
Rose was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul site.
Rose had a great passion for nursing. She enjoyed singing and bird watching. Rose loved her pets. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children, Jean Iafrat, James Marcantino and his wife, Dawn Lyn, and Dan Marcantino and his wife, Rochelle, all of New Castle; her sister, Della Caravella of West Pittsburg; two grandchildren, Erin McCauley and Sean Marcantino; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Jax, Ireland and Sadie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her brothers, James, William, Samuel and Anthony; and her sisters, Josephine, Angeline, Antoinette and Mary.
A private visitation and Blessing Service for the family will be held at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The Rev. Victor Molka Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.

I am incredibly saddened to hear of Rosie’s passing. She was so sweet. It was an honor getting to meet her & her son Jim & such a privilege getting to take care of her. She will be so very missed. Prayers for everyone.

I worked for a short time as a ward clerk. I loved working in her Department . She was always pleasant and kind. My sincere sympathy to the family.
