Rose Marie Alfera, 98, formerly of Beckford Street, where she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, passed away the morning of Sept. 14, 2018, at the Haven Convalescent Home. Born in New Castle on March 22, 1920, Rose was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Gates Parrott. Preceding her in death is her husband, Frank Alfera Sr., whom she married on April 14, 1945.

Rose was a member of St. Vitus Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, baking and canning. Rose was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cherished the times she spent with her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Frank Alfera Jr. and his wife, Candise, of New Castle, Dennis Alfera and his wife, Donna, of Connecticut; her sister, Agnes Sherbak of New Castle; her five grandchildren, Nicholas and wife, Allyson, Alfera, Christopher Alfera, Emily Rose Alfera, Amy Beth Alfera, Jason Michael and wife, Anna, Alfera; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rose is preceded in death by her sister, Philomena DeFiore; two brothers, Anthony Parrott, Frank Parrott; and twin infant great-grandsons.

Visitation is Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Vitus Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Father Frank Almade.

Burial will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.
