Samuel E. Singer Obituary

Samuel E. Singer, age 78, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away the afternoon of March 14, 2025, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1946, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Huff) Singer.

On April 11, 1968, he married his beloved wife of 56 years, Sharon (Hare) Singer. She survives at home.

Sam faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

He worked as a conductor, employed by CSX Railroad, until his retirement.

Sam enjoyed woodworking, working on small gas engines, camping and going to flea markets. Above everything else in life, Sam treasured the times he was able to spend with his family.

In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by two sons, Scott (Michelle) Singer and George Singer; three brothers, Richard (Sandy) Singer, Leroy (Darlene) Singer and William (Shaina) Singer; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Jill) Hare and Carl (Teddi Jo) Stephenson; sister-in-law, Joyce (Ronnie) Kirk; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Georgetta Sadler, Helen Palmer and Sally Scanlon; two brothers, John Singer and Robert Singer; one brother-in-law, Harry Hare; and a son, Brian Singer.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation, at the funeral home, at 6 p.m. with Pastor Jordan Rimmer of Northminster Presbyterian Church officiating.

The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites.
