New Castle - Thelma R. Tuscano Mangino, 95, of East Washington Street, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends, at Quality Life Services in New Castle.
She was born April 23, 1931, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Lostracco) Dantonio.
Thelma was owner of Pizza Castle pizza shop in New Castle. She was well known for her delicious pizza and pizza greens.
Thelma worked for H&R Block as a tax preparer for five years, Dr. Linganna's office as a dictator for five years, then worked in medical records at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vincent de Paul and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She also designed and published a cookbook for St. Lucy Church.
Thelma loved to cook, especially cavatelli and ravioli, and cleaning.
Above all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her life.
She is survived by three children, James Tuscano and his wife, Trish, of Columbiana, Ohio, Michael Tuscano and his wife, Christine, of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Kimberly Ferrese and her husband, Craig, of New Castle, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Jessie Tuscano, Carli Conner (Christopher), Acacia Ferrese, Lauren Tuscano, Amanda Leonard (Austin) and Lexie Ferrese; one great-grandson, Colson Conner; and one brother, Pete Dantonio of North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Tuscano, who died Jan. 11, 1967, and Charles Mangino, who died March 8, 2013; two brothers, John Dantonio and Eugene Dantonio; and four sisters, Helen Cialella, Virginia Pallerino, Yolanda DiBernado and Phyllis Nerti.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vitus Church. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate.
