Waide C. Kennedy, 93, of Ellwood City passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at Haven Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 23, 1927, in Slippery Rock Township, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lyda Hogue Kennedy.
He was married to Roberta Brown Kennedy in May 1951. She passed away on Jan. 12, 1996.
Waide was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served with the 11th Airborne during World War II.
He retired in 1971 from Mathews Conveyor after 21 years as a fitter.
Waide was a longtime and current member of the Castlewood Alliance Church.
Survivors include a son, Chris (Patty) Kennedy of Ellwood City; brother, Clifford (Nancy) Kennedy of Ellwood City; two granddaughters, Amanda (Frank) Druschel and Jessica (Daniel) Daugherty; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriella Druschel and Elliot Daugherty.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lester K. Kennedy; sister-in-law, Roberta "Bobby" Kennedy; and his great-grandson, Carter Druschel.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday Oct. 3, 2021, from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7: p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City. His pastor, Rev. James O'Hara, will officiate.
Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
