William T. Anthony, 95, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital —Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Jayne (Wright) Anthony, who died in 2004. Born in New Castle on March 30, 1920, he was a son of the late David J. and Anne (Phillips) Anthony. William was a 1938 graduate of New Castle High School and went on to receive his bachelor of science degree in engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 1942. Immediately following graduation, William joined the Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a member of its management training program. At the completion of that program, he was assigned to various positions in the operations department of the Bethlehem Plant. William was later transferred to the new products development section and also worked in the sales department, until he retired in 1983. William was a former chairman of the Railway Progress Institute with headquarters in Washington, D.C. He was a longtime member of the Saucon Valley Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing and dining. William was also a member of Christ Church UCC in Bethlehem. Survivors include his son, David J. Anthony and his wife, Nikki, of Bethlehem; his grandsons, Jonathan W. Anthony of Bethlehem and David J. (Carrie) Anthony Jr. and their daughters, Lilli and Emi of Florida. William was preceded in death by his elder son, Attorney W. Thomas Anthony Jr. in 2009. Services are private. A memory tribute may be placed at www.longfuneralhome.com.
