William McDonald ("Earl") Obituary
New Castle, PA - William E. McDonald "Earl," age 90, of New Castle, passed away May 1, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born June 16, 1935, in Nantahala, North Carolina, he was the son of Wade and May (Parker) McDonald.
He was preceded in death May 13, 1999, by his wife of 19 years, Thelma R. (Mills) McDonald, whom he married June 17, 1979.
Mr. McDonald served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force during the Korean War.
He was the complex manager for California Real Estate Investment and later, the hall manager for the VFW in Santa Clara, California, until his retirement.
During his retirement he worked for Walmart as a bike builder.
He held lifetime memberships with both the Santa Clara VFW #3982, where he served as commander, and the National Home through VFW and was a member of the American Legion Santa Clara #642.
He enjoyed bowling and was a member of St. Vitus church.
Earl was also very proud of his Native American heritage.
Earl had one son, Earl Ray McDonald; one daughter, Shawnee Miller; two brothers, Ed McDonald and Ron Matthews; two sisters, Vivian Smith and Betty Wagner; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by stepsons, L.B. Polansky and Michael Polansky; and stepdaughter, Linda L. Dean.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services.
