William M. Mesol, 84, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Nov. 9, 2024, in Quality of Life Services Nursing Home.

William was born May 12, 1940, in New Castle. He was the son of the late Michael and Evangeline (Phillips) Mesol. He married the former Barbara J. Morgan. William and Barbara were married Aug. 18, 1964. They were married for 59 years; she preceded him in death Aug. 4, 2023. Mr. Mesol was of the Greek Orthodox faith and attended St. George Orthodox Church here in New Castle. William was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1958. He continued his education at Clarion State College

Mr. Mesol retired after 33 years of service as an elementary teacher within the New Castle School System, at both Lockley Elementary and George Washington Junior High School. William loved to go fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He was a 32nd Mason with the Valley of New Castle A.A.S.R. Mr. Mesol was a past parish council president of St. George Orthodox church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Mesol is survived by two sons, Michael (Diane Patty) Mesol, of Mt. Storm, W.V., and Robert Mesol, of New Castle; daughter, Rebekah Febus, of Baltimore; sister, Helen (Robert) Ritchie, of New Castle; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife Barbara, William was preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas M. Mesol.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 315 W. Englewood Ave., New Castle.

A Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Rev. Thomas Constantine will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Online condolences may be viewed or offered by visiting www.nogafuneralhome.com.
