William F. "Mr. Bo" Bukowski, 87, of 13 Worthington Ave., passed away the morning of Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his residence. William was born on April 9, 1928, in New Castle. He was a son of the late Stanley and Zofia Gajda Bukowski. He was married to Dorothy J. McConnell. She preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2010. They were married for 58 wonderful years. Mr. Bukowski was of the Roman Catholic faith. William was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1946. Following high school, William served his country during the Korean War as member of the Army. William earned the rank of corporal, serving in Korea from Dec. 12, 1950, until returning home on Dec. 12, 1952. William was transferred into the Army Reserves, until his honorable discharged on Nov. 20, 1956. Mr. Bukowski continued his education at Slippery Rock University, earning his bachelor of education degree. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh while working toward his masters degree. William retired after 42 years of service with the New Castle Area School District as a science teacher. Mr. Bukowski was a very well-liked and respected teacher, known as Mr. Bo. He was an avid fisherman and his passion was gardening. He enjoyed golfing and traveling with his wife and family. In the 1970s, Mr. Bukowski coached several championship teams in the Neshannock Suburban League, which included two of his sons. William is survived by his four children, William "Bud" (Cathy) Bukowski of New Castle, Randy E. Bukowski of Erie, Cheryl A. (Joe) Gierlach of New Castle and Robert J. Bukowski of Winchester, Virginia; and six grandchildren, Eric Bukowski, William Z. Bukowski, Daniel (Alison) Bukowski, Patrick (Beth) Bukowski, Kylie A. (fiance Jeff Hadley) Gierlach and Brooke N. Bukowski. In addition to his parents and wife Dorothy, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley Bukowski Jr., Thadd Bukowski, John Bukowski and Julek Bukowski; and two sisters, Felicia Preisner and Helen Czerwinski. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military honors at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for St. Camillus Parish, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael Peck, pastor of St. Camillus, will officiate. Rite of Committal and entombment will be in Castle View Mausoleum.
