Scott Township - William Hunt Wolfe, 84 of Scott Township, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 30, 1941,in Bruin, Pennsylvania, to Dale William Wolfe and Hilda Elizabeth Eiler Wolfe.

Bill married Dixie Lee Portzline on July 19, 1969. She survives at the residence.

Bill was an Army veteran, and of the Presbyterian faith.

He retired from the Berry Metal Company in Harmony, Pennsylvania having worked as a millwright and truck driver.

In addition to being a farrier, Bill was a longtime member of the P.A.H.A. (PA Amateur Horseman Association). He enjoyed morning meet-ups for coffee with his dear old-timer friends, trailriding and spending time with his daughters at the P.A.H.A. horse shows.

Bill was proud of his family and seeing his grandson attain his Eagle Scout Award.

In his last active days, he found comfort spending time with his coonhound pup, "Rattler."

Bill was a man of few words, but a man true to his word. Forever in our hearts.

Survivors include wife, Dixie, at home; daughters, Dallas Wolfe of Erie, Tammy Wolfe of New Castle and Jolene Wolfe of Doylestown, Ohio; sisters, Betty (Tom) Lally of Hermitage and Debbie (Wes) Fobes of Farrell; brothers, David (Linda) Wolfe of Jamestown, Pennsylvania, and Dale "Curly" Wolfe of Hermitage; and four grandchildren, Stetson Hunt Wolfe, Shilo, Victoria and Lucas Meyer.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, until the time of the 4 p.m. service at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, PA, with Rev. Jeff Curtis of Highland Presbyterian Church presiding.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department and to the Lawrence County Humane Society.
