Winnifred S. Herbert Obituary
Winnifred S. Herbert, 96, formerly of East Wallace Avenue, passed away at the Haven Convalescent Home on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016.
Winnifred was born in New Castle on March 27, 1920, to the late James W. and Sarah L. Long Herbert.
She worked as a clerk at the former G.C. Murphy's store for 38 years.
Winnifred was a member the First Baptist Church for more than 81 years. She was a member of the Joy Gleaners Sunday School class and very devoted to the church nursery.
She is survived by her cousin, Annabel Fombelle of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Winnifred was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Brown; and her brothers; William and James Herbert.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St., New Castle.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home and will be conducted by Pastor John L. Yergan, pastor of visitation at the First Baptist Church,
Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
